Most Common Questions:

When will I get my order?

Within 24-hours of receiving your files, we will e-mail you a PDF proof. Your job will ship about 3-5 business days after you approved your proof. Custom jobs, such as catalogs or die-cut orders, may take up to two weeks. Shipping times vary depending on where you are located. Please call, or click here, to find out how many days UPS will take. Weekends and Holidays are not included in the 3-5 business day turnaround time.

What if I need a rush?

If you have a rush job, give us a call at 888 703-3331. We can sometimes meet your deadline, depending on our current press schedule. We have been known to turn jobs in 24-hours, but call us before you plan on having your job in less then 3-5 business days.
If you absolutely MUST have a job in less than 3 days, we may be able to get your job out, but a rush fee may apply. Call 888 703-3331 for more details.

Can you meet my deadline?

If you have a deadline that you would like us to meet, please tell us when you place your order. We would be happy to accommodate you, but we need to make sure your job is scheduled accordingly. You can e-mail deadlines to office@wgiprint.com. Make sure you tell us when they are needed, and where your job needs to go. Don’t forget to figure shipping times in with your timetable.

*Note: You must place an order before sending your file. Files that are sent without orders will not be processed.

When do I send my file?

You will be asked for your file during the last step in the online ordering process.
You must place an order before sending your file. Files without orders will not be processed.

How do I pay for my job?

Proof Questions:

Do I get a proof of my job before it goes to press?

Yes, we send out a free PDF proof with every order*. The free proof will be Emailed to the address that you entered when setting up your account. If you would like to change the proof address, please call us at:
(888) 703-3331, or click here to email us the correct address.

If you would like a color calibrated Ink-Jet hard proof they are available for purchase on the
shopping cart page.

*Important: Online design orders do not include an additional PDF proof. If placing an Online Design order, you must carefully proofread your artwork before adding it to the shopping cart.

Do I have to get a proof?

We send a PDF proof out for every job. Even if you do not think you need one, we will still send one to you. It is not uncommon for people to miss spelling errors and typos, and a proof gives you one last chance to fix them. It is cheaper and faster to proof read your job one last time, than to deal with misprinted pieces.
Jobs will not print without proof approval

If you insist on waiving your proof, we will not return, refund, or credit your order for any reason. NO EXCEPTIONS.

Where is my proof?

If 24 hours have passed and you have not received a PDF proof, we either did not receive your file, or we have an incorrect e-mail address. Please call us to make sure that we sent your proof to the right address.
If you requested a hard proof, they are usually shipped the same day they are ordered. If you give us a call at 888 703-3331, we would be happy to give you a UPS tracking number.

My proof looks low resolution. Why?

We reduce PDF proofs for ease of download and viewing. If you would like a full resolution proof, please reply to the PDF proof e-mail and let us know. We would be happy to send one to you.
My proof doesn’t look right when I open it on my computer.
Proofs are best-viewed using Adobe Acrobat Reader 7 or Acrobat Professional 6 with overprint Preview turned on. You can download Acrobat Reader free at http://www.adobe.com/products/reader/.
The letters I and L appear bold when I view my proof. Will they print that way?
If you zoom in at 300%, they should appear normal.

What is with the white space/ upside-down picture and black lines around my proof?

The black lines are where your job will cut.
If you see a reflected picture around your proof, that is a bleed that Pre-Press created for you. Bleeds extend the color all the way past the edge of the card, so that when your cards are cut, the edges will not have any white on them. The reflected picture will not show up on the finished product.
If you see white space within those lines, and there is not supposed to be any, please let us know.

I tried to hit the Accept button, but I don’t think it worked.

If the accept button doesn’t work for you, reply to the e-mail, and let us know whether your job is approved or declined. You can also call us at 888 703-3331.

Paper and Printing Questions:

Will my print job be run on a copier?

No, all of our jobs are printed on large German-made offset lithography printing presses.
Our print quality is as good or better than anything we have ever encountered.
With our photo-quality 20 micron stochastic screening, (400 lpi equilivant) you can rest assured that your order will always look as good as it possibly can.

I want to be able to write/print on the back of my cards. Will they be coated?

Our house card stock is coated on both sides, and we add an aqueous coating to one side of the cards. However, you should be able to write on the side that is not aqueous coated with a ballpoint pen.
If you need to be able to write on your book weight job, let us know, and we will not coat it.
Most ink jet and laser printers do not have a problem printing on the side without aqueous coating. If you need samples to make sure you can print on our coating, please e-mail office@wgiprint.com.
If you plan on using a mailing house, please check with them to make sure they can print on coated paper. If they would like samples to test on, we would be happy to send them.

What is aqueous coating?

Aqueous coating is a water-based coating that we put on one side of all of our card stock jobs. The coating gives your cards a more professional look and makes them scuff resistant.

Can I get UV Coating on my job?

We do not use UV coating due to the caustic nature of the coating. It is very harmful for the environment, and for our employees. Plus, once a piece of paper is UV coated, it can never be recycled.

What if I want my job on matte stock?

Currently all of our standard jobs are printed on gloss stock. If you would like your job to have a matte finish, the job must be able to fill a whole run. Below are the minimum quantities.

Large post cards (5.5x8.5 – 6x11): 8000
Brochures (8.5x11): 4000
Newsletters (11x17): 2000

We do not currently have a way of printing business cards with a matte finish.

What if my job has fewer then 4 colors?

We run all of our jobs four-color process. If you would like a PMS color on your job, we can print it as a custom run. The minimum quantities are below. Please call for a custom quote.

Large post cards (5.5x8.5 or larger): 8000
Brochures (8.5x11): 4000
Newsletter (11x17): 2000

All business cards are run four-color process.

I’m concerned about the color. How do I make sure it’s right?

Monitors and printers are not calibrated the same, or at all. If you would like to make sure that the color you are seeing on your screen matches ours, give us a call at 888 703-3331.

If your file is RGB, the color will not print the way you sent it. We will automatically convert your file to CMYK for our press. If you want to make sure the color will come out the way you see it, send us a CMYK file. If you need help, give us a call at 888 703-3331.

If you want us to match an exact color, please mail us a copy of the color. Our mailing address is:

Wizard Graphics, Inc
411 Otterson Dr, Ste 20
Chico, CA 95928

A small fee may apply for color matching a sample. Call for more details.

If you would like to see a color-match proof, we charge $25 for UPS Ground, $40 for 3-Day Air, and $60 for Next-Day Air.

Please note that the color proof will not be printed on the finished stock. If you would like an example of the finished stock with the proof, please let us know.

What if I have more then one version of a job that needs to be printed?
If you have 2 or more versions of a job, you will be billed for two different jobs.
For example, if you need 500 business cards for 2 different people, you will be billed $39 per name, or $78.
Jobs cannot be split. For example, if you need 250 business cards for 2 different people, you will be billed $39 per name, not $39 for both.

If you have four or more different versions, you may be eligible for a price break. Please call for more details.

Eco-friendly Printing Questions:

Will my job be printed on recycled paper?

All of our standard card stock jobs are printed on our house-recycled paper (50% recycled, 25% post-consumer, FSC certified). Most of our book-weight jobs are printed on non-recycled paper. However, if your job has the recycled paper logo on it, we will make sure that it is printed on recycled paper. If your job does not have the recycled logo on it, but you would like it on recycled paper, please let us know before you approve the proof. We would be happy to put your job on recycled paper if that is what you would prefer. You can e-mail us at office@wgiprint.com, or call us at 888 703-3331.

What if I want my job on 100% recycled paper?
Currently, all of our standard jobs are printed on our house-recycled (50% recycled, 25% post-consumer, FSC certified) gloss stock. If you would like your job printed on 100% recycled stock, the job must be able to fill a whole run. Below are the minimum quantities.

Large post cards (5.5x8.5 or larger): 8000
Brochures (8.5x11): 4000
Newsletter (11x17): 2000

We currently do not have a way to print business cards on 100% recycled paper.

What does FSC mean?

FSC stands for Forest Stewardship Council. It means that the virgin content of our house-recycled stock was plantation raised.

Do you use soy-based inks?

All of our jobs are printed with vegetable-based inks. Vegetable-based inks have the same quality as soy-based inks, and are just as eco-friendly. However, they are made from whatever vegetables are currently most affordable on the open market, not just soybeans. That means your job will be much more affordable than if we used soy-based inks.
If you require soy-based inks, please call us at 888 703-3331 for pricing and availability.

Basic Questions and Printing Terms:

Which four colors do you use?

Four-color refers to Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, and Black; just like your color desktop printer. Pretty much any color you can imagine can be made of those four colors.

What do 4/0, 4/1, and 4/4 mean?

The 4 refers to four-color process printing.
4/0: full-color on one side, nothing on the back
4/1: full-color on one side, black only on the back
4/4: full-color on both sides

What if I want one color on the back, but its not black?

The back of your 4/1 job must be black. If you would like a color on the back, your job will be billed as 4/4.
What if my job has fewer then 4 colors?
We run all of our jobs four-color process. If you would like a PMS color on your job, we can run it as a custom run. The minimum quantities are below. Please call for a custom quote.

Large post cards (5.5x8.5 or larger): 8000
Brochures (8.5x11): 4000
Newsletter (11x17): 2000

All business cards are run four-color process.

What is a PMS color?

PMS stands for Pantone Matching System. PMS colors are specific colors with specific ink codes found only in Pantone books.

Design and File Spec Questions:

What types of files do you accept?

A list of acceptable file formats can be found on the Print Specs page. You can also find information of what to include with your file.

www.wgiprint.com/printspecs.html

Do you accept Microsoft Publisher files?

Yes, we can accept Microsoft Publisher files. Please call us at 888 703-3331 for file specs.

Do you accept Microsoft Word/ Excel/ PowerPoint files?

No, we do not accept any of the above formatted files. Microsoft Publisher comes packaged with most copies of Microsoft Office, but if you do not have the program, you can convert a Word or PowerPoint file to a PDF. If you need help, give us a call at 888 703-3331.

Excel is a spreadsheet program. It is perfect if you plan on sending us a mailing list, but we cannot print a job from an Excel file.

I have all the pieces to my job, but I don’t know how to put them together.

If you need to put together a business card, you can use the Online Design program.

If you have a logo or background you would like to use, at the bottom of the typesetting page, you can upload an image.

If you would like us to build your business card for you, we charge $25 per version to assemble the pieces. If you need complete design, we charge $75 an hour, for a minimum of one hour.

If you give us a call, we would be happy to have a 15-minute design consultation with you and give you a quote on how long we think the design will take.

I downloaded an image from the Internet, but it looks crummy on my file.
Images on the Internet are 72 dpi (dots per inch), and we print at 600 dpi. If you use an image downloaded from the Internet, it will look very pixilated.

If you need stock images that you can print from, we recommend using www.morguefile.com. Most of their images are copyright free, and many can be downloaded at 600dpi or greater. Just remember that if you would like to use a picture of a person (regardless of the copyright status), you need to get written consent from that person.

Where can I get stock photography?

Online Design:

How do I get to the Online Design page?

The Online Design page can be found by going to the business card page on our website and clicking on the yellow starburst in the right-hand corner. Or by clicking here.

I do not like any of these background images. Do you have any more?

All of the background images we currently have are there. If you have a specific image you are looking for, you can upload a background on the very bottom of the typesetting page.

How do I make my type appear on both the left and right sides of my card?

If you would like some information on the left hand side, and some on the right, choose the left aligned layout. Typeset both sides of the card at the same time, hitting the space bar the appropriate number of times in order to move the right hand text to the right side.
If you hit the “update” button frequently, you will be able to tell if your type is even on both sides.

I hit the update button, and nothing happened.

If you click on the update button, and your card does not update, refresh the page. Your changes should show up.

I have tried uploading an image in the Online Design, but it does not show up on the card.

Currently, you must use Firefox to upload an image. You can download a free copy Firefox by going to www.mozilla.com/firefox.

Your image must be formatted as a .jpg, .tif, .gif, or an .eps.

If your image still does not show up, it usually means that your logo is too small to print. The online design automatically formats your image to the largest size it can print while still being full resolution. Your image must be 300 dpi at it’s final size, or larger.

I designed my cards online, how come I didn’t get a proof?

The very last step of the Online Design is to approve the business card you designed. Your card will be printed exactly as it showed up on your screen. If you absolutely need a PDF copy of your job, we can e-mail you one, but changes cannot be made.

What if I messed up on my Online Design?

The very last page on the Online Design shows you exactly how your job will be printed. If you are on the last page and see a mistake, click on the “change” button in the lower left-hand corner of the side you wish to change. That will take you back to the typesetting page, and you can change layouts, backgrounds, and type from there.

Changes cannot be made after you click “Add Selected to Cart.” No matter what. Double check and make sure everything is spelled correctly and the right information is on the card, because once you hit okay, your business card will be put on a print run. If you need changes after you approve the card, you will have to place another order.

Mailing Questions:

How much will postage be?

Standard postage prices, as of June 2008, are below. If you plan on using a mailing house to distribute your piece, the postage may be less depending on layout and list quality. These prices are subject to change without notice. Current postage prices can be found at www.usps.com.
Standard post cards (3.5x5.5 – 4.25x6): $0.27 each
Post cards over 4.25x6 and folded pieces: $0.42 each

Note that if your mailing piece is a square, or weighs more then 1 ounce, your postage may be higher.

How much do you charge for your mailing services?

Mailing prices vary depending on size and quality of list. Please e-mail office@wgiprint.com or call
888 703-3331 for a quote.

How should I design my card for a post office mailing?

You can double check the postal requirement by going to our Postal Specifications page
http://www.wgiprint.com/postal.html

*Note: Postal Specs may change without notice. Check with your local post office to make sure your card is acceptable.

“My Cards are Wrong” Questions:

Most of the cards we print turn out exactly how people wanted them to, but we know that things do go wrong. If you receive your cards, and there is a problem with them, we would love to help you fix it. Below is a list of the most common problems people have with the finished product. If you do not see your issue on the list, please give us a call at 888 703-3331.

The type/ logo/ images are not what they were supposed to be. What do I do?

Your card should be printed exactly as it appeared in you PDF proof. If it is printed different than what was on your proof, call us at 888 703-3331.

If you card is printed the same as what appeared on your PDF proof, you will have to reorder the cards.

The color is different than what I thought it would be. What happened?

If the color appears different than what you saw on your computer screen, it is usually because of color calibration difference between your equipment and ours. If you give a call at 888 703-3331, we would be happy to take a look and let you know what happened.

This was a reprint, and it turned out different. What happened?
Because each print run is different, reprints will not be 100% the same, but they should be incredibly close. There is no way that we can make each reprint exactly the same.
If the color of your reprint is very different than what it was previously, it is usually because the file has changed. Please give us a call at 888 703-3331, and we can give you a more accurate answer of what happened.

Returns and Credits:

I want a refund. What do I do?

If there is a problem with your job, give us a call at 888 703-3331, or e-mail office@wgiprint.com.
Do not use any portion of the job. If the refund is authorized, we will arrange for UPS to pick it up.

I placed an order when I wasn’t ready. How can I get my money credited back?

Give us a call at 888 703-3331 or an e-mail at office@wgiprint.com, and we would be happy to refund your card. You must contact us before 3 P.M, Pacific Standard Time, or your order will be processed.
We can still cancel orders after they have been processed, but a small fee may apply.

I was charged twice for the same order.
Call us at 888 703-3331 or e-mail us at office@wgiprint.com. We would be happy to refund the extra charge.

Usually when this happens, it is due to a bank error, and your card has only been charged once, but the charge appears twice on your statement until the payment has cleared.

I changed my mind about the order. How do I cancel it?

Give us a call at 888 703-3331 or an e-mail at office@wgiprint.com, and we would be happy to refund your card. You must contact us before 3 P.M, Pacific Standard Time, or your order will be processed.
We can still cancel orders after they have been processed, but a small fee may apply.
Once a proof has been approved, an order cannot be canceled or refunded.
